How To Get Help
In order to use our services a person must show proof that they reside in Hancock County and their income must fall below 200% of the poverty guidelines.
We work with many other local nonprofits to assist people in need:.
Open Arms Domestic Violence Shelter – Refers clients to CHOPIN Hall for clothes/diapers. When their clients move out of the shelter and into permanent housing we often assist with kitchen items and linens, and locating furniture.
Hope House – Refers clients to CHOPIN Hall for clothing/diapers/food. When their clients move out of the shelter and into permanent housing we often assist with kitchen items and linens, and locating furniture. Hope House has also worked with CHOPIN Hall clients to encourage them to participate in Hope House’s Getting Ahead program, which is a series of classes developed to help participants lean how to become self-sufficient.
City Mission – We receive overflow clothing and food from The City Mission to hand out to our clients. The City Mission brings their clients to us for clothing needs.
Hancock County Schools – During the year when guidance counselors have a student with a particular need such as clothing, shoes, athletic gear, or school supplies they often contact CHOPIN Hall to pick up the items needed.
Area Nursing Homes and Senior Low Income Housing Units – From time to time area caregivers contact CHOPIN Hall to request clothing/supplies for their clients. These requests are sometimes for clothing or incontinence products for residents who often times have no family members or funds to get these items themselves.
