What we provide

CHOPIN Hall is the primary provider in our community of take-home food. We provide an emergency 5-day supply of nutritious and good tasting food for our clients. The amount of food received is based on the number of people living together in the household. Families may get food once a month at our location. They may also attend all of the mobile food pantries run by CHOPIN Hall each month, giving people the opportunity to receive multiple boxes of food a month. The food box received at our facility may contain: fresh eggs, fruit, vegetables, cereal, juice, a voucher for a free gallon of milk, peanut butter, pasta, pasta sauce, soup, frozen or canned meat, various bread choices, and miscellaneous donated food items.

In addition to food, we purchase and hand out with the food boxes toilet paper, bar soap, and diapers. We also purchase children’s socks and underwear to distribute during the year (Easter, Back to School, Christmas). We purchase and distribute personal care items (shampoo, dish soap, laundry soap, personal care kits) on a monthly rotating basis.

Community members donate all types of clothing, shoes, coats, household items, towels, sheets, blankets, pillows, small kitchen appliances. All items are given out free of charge.

Where we get our supplies

CHOPIN Hall is able to effectively leverage all monetary donations into thousands and thousands of pounds of food. Much of our food is purchased from the West Ohio Food Bank in Lima at a cost of .10 to .19 a pound. Also purchased by CHOPIN Hall are fresh eggs, diapers, toilet paper, children’s socks and underwear, and vouchers to be redeemed for a gallon of milk. Food is also received from food drives, Panera, various bread distributors, Bob Evans restaurants, Aldi’s, a fresh vegetable distributor, and donations from individuals and groups.

In 2020, the food, clothing, personal care items we handed out had a retail value of $1,554,725 and cost us only $82,200 in disbursements and operating expenses.

A monetary donation to CHOPIN Hall is worth much more than only its face value.
